Shows at the Lyric Theatre

The Lyric Theatre is a great place to enjoy the latest production or musical event and as a premiere destination for the arts, residents and visitors alike can enjoy a wide range of events throughout the year. Currently there are two shows to look forward to: War Horse and the musical group Illapu – both of which comes to the Lyric in 2013 for everyone’s enjoyment.

While War Horse is expected to run a couple months, Illapu is going to be in town for one night only – March 1^st at 8 p.m. so it is a good idea to get tickets now before they are gone! This musical group has been performing since the 1970’s and are best known for their unique take on Bolivian rhythms and Andean folklore. If you love international music and flare, you might want to check this group out!

Founded in 1971, Illapu consists of four brothers from the northern part of Chile – this location has served as an inspiration for their music and lyrics and eventually created the fusion style of music known as the Nueva Canción. Their biggest hit came in 1976 for both Chile and Argentina, but their beautiful music consisting of rhythms, guitar skills and musical instruments such as pan flutes interest music lovers around the world. Those in Sydney will have a chance to enjoy this great music, but since it is only one night you need to look for tickets now – or else they will be all sold out!

After Illapu comes to town, War Horse will be the production calling Lyric Theatre home from March 16^th until June 30^th. Tickets are on sale for this production until May 12, 2013 so don’t wait to get tickets – this is a hot show around the world and you don’t want to miss your chance at seeing this marvelous production.
