Visiting the Lyric Theatre in Brisbane
Most of us love going to the theatre, whether it is for a once in a lifetime event or for season tickets to some of the hottest shows on the stage. If you live in Brisbane or you are coming from another location around the world, having an opportunity to see a famous production on the stage in Brisbane is a great pleasure you might not get another chance to do. The beautiful Lyric Theatre, which has a second location in Sydney, is located in the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, also known as QPAC. The theatre belongs with other fabulous concert halls and playhouses – visitors to the centre will also see the Concert Hall, Cremorne Theatre and the Playhouse. To find the stunning Lyric Theatre, you’ll want to enter from Melbourne Street and find your way up to levels one and two.
So, what are you in the mood to watch? The Lyric Theatre features 2,000 seats – all with amazing acoustics so you can hear the show from anywhere in the house. A large stage, rear stages and orchestra pit create an amazing experience for you – this means that musicals, ballet productions and opera are perfect from the Lyric Theatre. There are plenty of restaurant and bar options in the performing arts centre, as well. Meet up with friends or family before or after the show to enjoy delicious foods from the Café or Bistro – dishes are affordable and offer a wonderful ambiance.
Not everyone has the luxury of seeing a well-known production on the stage, so when you are in town, make it a priority to visit the performing arts centre and enjoy a play or performance art. As you are setting your travel itinerary, be sure to look for tickets well in advance – theatre tickets often sell out very quickly and you want to have a good seat! Though every seat in the house is a good one, purchasing tickets in advance allows you to have the most selection – and in some cases, purchasing with a credit card such as American Express gives you priority over some of the best seats.
There is plenty to see and do in Brisbane, but a trip to the Lyric Theatre is on the list of must see destinations. Whether you want to enjoy the opera for the first time or you have a specific production in mind, be sure to count the Lyric Theatre in on your plans.
