War Horse at the Lyric Theatre
The Lyric Theatre in Sydney is a beautiful venue in which to watch some of the hottest plays straight from London and Broadway! Currently, tickets are available for the production, War Horse, and if you want to cross it off your must see list, now is the time to catch a performance. Here are a few tips about finding tickets:
- Look in advance for better ticket options. The closer you wait to the performance, the less selection you have of seats. While every seat in the Lyric Theatre is a good one, give yourself the opportunity to select the best available seats before arriving in Sydney.
- Be aware of third party ticket sales. Despite offering great prices and seating options, it is important to have a sense of skepticism when using these sites, as some people have had bad experiences with the sales. Look for websites that have great customer feedback and allow you to print out tickets at home.
War Horse is an emotional story and makes for an amazing performance. The setting of the play is around World War I, and the horse of a young boy is shipped to France to be a part of the Calvary. The owner, a boy not old enough to enlist, goes off to war to find his horse and bring him home. War Horse has won two Laurence Olivier Awards since its start in London in 2007 – it has also won five Tony Awards and four Outer Critics Circle Awards, just to name a few. If you have seen the movie, it might be hard to imagine how the story is brought to the stage, but life size puppets created by the Handspring Puppet Company in South Africa brings the story to life.
This production has won numerous accolades and wonderful reviews – so be sure to grab your tickets before they are no longer available! Tickets are on sale until April 28th, 2013 and the show runs from March to the end of June. Be sure to get there early – the Lyric Theatre is a beautiful venue with plenty of places to enjoy a meal or cocktail with friends before a performance. War Horse runs a little under three hours, including interval, so make it a day and enjoy all that the lovely Lyric Theatre and the Star City Entertainment Complex have to offer!
